With Tumblr and Twitter introducing the use of GIFs in posts, Facebook will soon allow short videos to be posted as profile pictures.
Announced on Wednesday, this new feature is one of the new mobile-friendly features.
The feature will allow users to use a short looping video clip that will play for anyone who will visit the user’s profile. The huge social networking site also plans to introduce temporary profile picture filters that revert back to the original picture after a period of time.
Facebook announced other features which include the ability to pin photos to the top of the profile, easier visibility controls for profile information, and a new 100-character bio field and centered profile pictures in the new mobile layout.
A small number of users in the UK and California will begin testing the features immediately. Facebook expects to roll out the changes to more people soon.
