Filipina maid-turned Award Winning Photographer Receives Another Award From Forbes Magazine.

Through hard work and dedication, Filipina Xyza Cruz Bacani achieved her dreams in life. She started working as a maid in Hong Kong but she pursued her dreams and became a successful photographer proclaimed by Forbes magazine’s “30 Under 30 Asia List

Bacani, 29, made it to the Arts Category with fellow Filipino Ronson Culbrina, 24. According to Forbes, Bacani previously takes photos of Hong Kong streets when she was still working as a domestic helper. Bacani went to Hong Kong to work as a maid alongside with her mother who is among 300,000 maids working in Hong Kong.

She had an interest with photography since college but she couldn’t afford to buy a camera. Her first camera was bought after she borrowed money from her employer.

Every time she had opportunity, she took photographs along Hong Kong streets.

Other Filipino awardees include Charice Pempengco, 23, for the Billboard Hot 100 chart; Leandro Leviste, 22, for the Manufacturing and Energy List; Henry Motte-Munoz, 29 and Raphael Mijeno, 28, under Social Entrepreneurs category; Ahmed Dialiv “Ami“” Hataman, 15, under Health and Science category; Valenice Balace, 27, under Consumer Tech and Rachel De Villa, 23, under Finanace and Venture Capital.
