Sleeping is an activity in our lives that is important, yet taken for granted. However, science has proven time and again how sleep will help you in your health, and in your productivity.
But for someone who’s busy, how much sleep does one need to get?
In an infographic released by the National Institute of Sleep, the hours of sleep one needs to have decreases as one grows older. A newborn should get 12 hours of sleep every day, while people aged 18 and above should get at least seven to nine hours of sleep.
Lack of sleep would generate the following symptoms: unproductivity during the day, weight gain, constant need for caffeine, and drowsiness while driving.
In order to get a good night’s sleep, one should do the following—stay within a schedule, develop a bedtime routine, exercise every day, have a comfortable mattress and pillow, turn off the TV, and avoid alcohol or caffeine before bedtime.
