Remember the viral Japanese woman who hurt a saleslady inside a mall in Cebu City? She was imprisoned but her family is requesting for a psychiatric evaluation as the woman is allegedly suffering from a mental illness.
Three cases were filed against Medelina Yamazaki, the Filipina who married a Japanese man who went berserk inside Ayala Mall, Cebu City. The court set a bail of PhP3,000 for each case after the accused spent 6 days inside the detention cell but the family remains stern on not paying it until the court allows psychiatric evaluation.
Following the request of her relatives, Yamazaki was able to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Soon after the evaluation, doctors from the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) confirmed that Yamazaki is unfit to stand trial.
Even so, Assistant Operations Manager of Mia Maison (where the saleslady is working) Sherryl Guevarra, claims that they are still determined to pursue the charges against the woman.
“Kahit na magkaroon siya nang psychiatric evaluation o sa mental institution ma coconfine (Even if she will have a psychiatric evaluation or even if she is confined in a mental institution), we will still pursue the case,” says Guevarra.
Yamazaki will still have to appear in front of the court after 10 days to gives her an answer to the charges which were filed against her.
However, Yamazaki’s lawyers will surely use the medical certificate to avoid the said trial. According to doctors, the woman is suffering from bipolar disorder and must be sent to a mental institution.
